Pilates is a movement-based therapy derived from the original concepts developed by Joseph Pilates during the early 1900’s. Joseph suffered with ill health and started to experiment with different types of fitness training to create his own series of exercises offering the perfect balance of strength and flexibility.
Today, Pilates is widely acknowledged as one of the most effective techniques to rebalance the mind and body, focus on optimal postural alignment and build strength from the inside out. Regular practice can help reverse the effects of gravity, excessive sitting and stress; facilitating improved muscle tone, balance and joint mobility.
For athletes, Pilates can complement their training by enhancing performance and avoiding injury. For those experiencing muscle or joint pain, Pilates can support remedial and rehabilitation therapies offered by other health professionals.
Classes are limited to a maximum of 10 participants to ensure high levels of personal attention within a group environment. All equipment is provided including mats, head cushions and a large variety of small equipment to enhance movement patterns. Classes take place in a modern, light and airy studio, which is fully heated/air conditioned.
